Ann Marie Sahajdack should receive the DIASY Award for her clinical skills, compassionate care, and exemplary service and for her continued commitment to excellence.

The following are specific examples of Ann Marie's extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care:

A 47 year old man was admitted to SJMO due to a sudden heart attack. The gentleman never regained consciousness. The family generously agreed to donate his organs. The family's only request was that someone hold the patient's hand in the OR until he took his last breath. Without hesitation, Ann Marie Sahajdack, RN volunteered to go into the OR so that the wife's wishes were respected.

Ann Marie remained with the patient for more than 2 hours while all the preparations were made. She did not leave his side until he passed. Peace, comfort, and closure for the family were important to Ann Marie, stating this is how she would want to be treated.

Kindness, compassion, and putting the needs of others first have always been the cornerstone of Ann Marie's nursing career. For this reason, we in Pre-OP have nominated Ann Marie Sahajdack for the DAISY Award.
