I went in for total knee replacement surgery. When I woke up at 11:30 am there was Ann standing very attentive to my every need. She was so gentle with me while I tried to get my mind wrapped around where I was. Ann asked me if I wanted anyone to come in, of course, I asked for my sister who had been waiting for me. She quickly brought her to be with me.
Her compassionate demeanor made me feel so comfortable. She informed me that there were no beds on the 6th floor but that as soon as one was open, I would be taken back to my room.
Ann was kind enough to get me and my sister something to drink and a snack. I was so hungry, and Ann asked if I would like something more, of course I was starving. She went and got me a sandwich. That was the best sandwich and Pepsi I had ever had.
Ann kept checking on the room availability and kept both me and my sister informed of exactly what all was going on. We spoke with her for a long time and she was just like having a family member there with me. She soothed my anxiety by simply holding my hand and making sure I stayed warm. She was so caring for me that I felt like I was the only patient she had. I asked her if she needed to go, that I would be fine there in Recovery, but Ann smiled and said, "I am not leaving you until you have to go to your room." The passion she had of being a nurse was so sincere and heartfelt. She truly loved her job and her patients, and it radiated from her.
It was now 5:30 pm and Ann never left my side since I first opened my eyes at 11:30 am. I was about to be taken to my room when she reached out and held my hand and asked if she could pray for me. WOW! Not only had she been with me 6 long hours, but now she wanted to pray for me. As a Christian woman, I jumped at the request quickly. She prayed for me and said, "You are going to be just fine," smiled and off I went.
Two days later, I was getting my dismissal paperwork done, when there, at the door stood none other than my sweet angel, Ann Kveton. She took time out of her super busy schedule to make sure she said goodbye to ME! I was so happy to see her and let her know I had been bragging about her since I had gotten to my room.
Ann is an example of what I think God smiles and says, "well done, good and faithful servant." I want to acknowledge her to all of Covenant.
