Ann Barker BSN RN is a Registered Nurse who works on Kettering Medical Center’s Oncology Unit – 3 South in Kettering, Ohio. Following is the nomination story by Ann’s co-worker:
“The patient was critically ill and the family was well informed about the patient’s condition. They realized that he only had a few more days to live, but wanted to bring the patient back home. The girlfriend voiced concerns about who will take turns in taking care of him, because as far as I know, they only have a few relatives who can help with his care. Ann, being one of the nurses, volunteered to take care of him, which meant she would go to their home on her days off. The patient dies and Ann was there to support the family all through their difficult time. I’m not sure if Ann would like me to tell this story, but I think she is an awesome nurse and person, she definitely went beyond the call of duty. She continues to inspire her coworkers and is always so caring to her patients.”
