Angela is a staff nurse that performs with excellence in patient care, charge and preceptor roles at CCH. Angela consistently approaches everyone with a kind heart, positive attitude, and the goal of loving care as if they are family. Her actions speak loudly; her example makes CCH a better place for everyone.

Recently, Angela cared for a patient who had pancreatitis with complications of necrosis and sepsis. As his stay progressed, the patient's sepsis worsened. The medical team was not able to offer any other surgical or medical treatment for his infection. Our patient had a very difficult day, waiting to meet with palliative care, after the medical team relayed lack of treatment options. He was angry and wanted his tube feeding stopped immediately. Angela very gently, sat with the patient, listened, sharing with the patient that she was there to help him, not judge him. The patient calmed and decided to continue cares until the early afternoon meeting. After meeting with palliative care, the patient made the decision to move to Hospice. Angela took time to carefully and compassionately move the patient, assuring he was settled and transitioned to the new care team. After her shift ended at 1930, Angela visited the patient, sitting with the patient and daughter, listening and being present.

Angela has unconditional love for our patients and their families, meeting them where they are at in their journey. Her gifts of knowledge, understanding and wisdom in the care "the sickest of the sick" offer healing and comfort to our patients, who have a great need for compassion and understanding along with medical intervention when they arrive at our door.
