We were so thankful to have Angie there with us the night our son was born. I was in the hospital being induced for four and a half days before our son arrived. I hadn't showered in 3 days because I was dizzy and being monitored. While all the other nurses were very nice, Angie came in and washed my hair and French braided it so I looked human when our son arrived. She was determined to get him out that night. She put me in various positions every hour or so to get him moved and coached me through contractions, no other nurse did that, it worked! My son was born, I looked pretty for pictures and when I cried in joy, she cried too. It didn't end there. She visited me every time she worked to see how I was doing or how our son was doing including a week later when our son was hospitalized due to dehydration. Despite being on a different floor, Angie heard we were back in the hospital and came to visit and check on us once again, despite not being her responsibility. I cried as soon as I saw her and she was quick to offer a hug and comforting words.
My husband and I met a lot of nurses while we were in the hospital for a week and while all were very good and we were thankful for them, Angie went above and beyond. You could tell she wasn't just doing her job; she truly cared and had a vested interest in how we were doing. It may seem like a small thing, but it meant the world to my husband and me that she put us at ease, walked us through everything and even offered a shoulder to cry on when we came back a week later. To be honest, when my husband tells the story of the night our son was born, he always shares how amazing our nurse, Angie, was and everything she did.
