Ana was recognized by a co-worker for taking care of her father. Oftentimes, it can be difficult caring for a loved one of a healthcare worker, but Ana gracefully takes care of patients and as a charge nurse, assists her team members in ensuring that the patients get the best care they can receive.
As stated by her co-worker, "Ana is a true example of what a leader is, and a patient advocate should be." She coordinates between physicians and communicates with patients and families what the plan of care is.

Those were some pretty scary days for us because his condition was very serious. He was weak and disoriented and it was difficult for him to move or walk. I had never seen my father so sick. He went from being an independent, active man to being almost totally dependent. While we were there, we had the opportunity to meet a lot of your staff. All of them were so kind; some of them reached our hearts. You know that having a demanding family member is hard but having a pushy, picky family member that is also a nurse and a co-worker is equivalent to a triathlon, but they handled me with grace and style. They are amazing human beings.
Ana had her cordless phone on one hand, and the desk phone on the other hand, talking to the doctors and communicate what the other's opinion was. I felt a lump in my throat, and I had to fight back my tears. Other hospitals may be big and fancy, but they do not give the patients and family members what MRMC has always given and that's support!
