I had to be brought back into the hospital because of complications with the arteries in my legs. I was so scared to go home because the last time, my leg started spurting blood everywhere. Amy was so knowledgeable and reassuring that I knew I would be fine at discharge. I had to go home with a wound vac, but I felt like I was educated fully on the device and had nothing to worry about. Amy taught me without any medical jargon so I was confident and at ease. She was always there when I needed her, I felt like I was her only patient. She connected with me like no other nurse ever had.

Be Remarkable - Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland's new motto - well Amy exemplifies remarkable in every way! Remarkable care, she shows compassion, knowledge and strength! My daughter was admitted to 2G with bilateral pyelonephrosis and was very ill. Amy was there to comfort and care for her in every way. She never gave up trying to get better pain and nausea control, even if it took her call after call and contacting many doctors, she did it. She also took the time to get my daughter's hair washed because she knew it was bothering her so much. Amy's compassionate care made me happy to call myself a nurse. Lastly, I have to tell you about her empathy. She knew I was having a difficult time, and she took the time to tell me her story about her ill child, and she hugged me, and told me to believe she will get better, and she did.
Amy is a remarkable person, nurse, and colleague. I couldn't be happier that she is a nurse at Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland. We are truly lucky to have her! Amy truly exemplifies what the DAISY Award is all about!
