I had the pleasure of working alongside Amy Miller. I was charged with providing security/patient watch on a patient that had been admitted to the ER the day prior. At that time, the patient and his Mother had been in the ER for almost 20 hours, waiting for outside agencies to complete patient transfer coordination. The Mother was completely exhausted from the continuous process of keeping her son in the ER. The patient required special handling and a close watch to ensure his safety and the safety of the staff.
Throughout that day, I witnessed Amy go above and beyond in her duties as a Nurse in caring for her patient and tending to his Mother. She worked under extremely difficult circumstances and her professionalism and dedication were apparent in the care she provided this family. The attention and compassion that she provided to both of them that day were instrumental in keeping the patient calm and addressing and consoling a defeated and exhausted Mother. Her actions exemplified the excellence in care that every hospital should strive to achieve.
