Amy Arcand's clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model.

While working with Amy Arcand in her role as co-chair of the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program Council for the past year, I have been greatly impressed by her leadership in representing staff nurses. Amy embodies the best aspects of the nursing profession. She is noted for both her clinical expertise and caring, and consistently demonstrates sound, thoughtful reasoning in her approach to any problem.

The daunting task of developing a CAP program inspired many spirited discussions among Council members. Amy has always listened respectfully and remained engaged without ever losing sight of her primary goal, which is to make the program inclusive of as many nurses as possible. Her detailed preparation and meticulous work has earned her the respect of other Council members. Amy was instrumental in preparing this program for its upcoming launch. With Amy's continued participation I, am confident that the CAP program will grow to become an invaluable part of our nursing structure at LHMC.

When we celebrate nurses who truly contribute to excellent patient care and positive outcomes for the entire Nursing Department, I believe we should acknowledge Amy. This outstanding professional nurse personifies the elements of our Professional Practice Model, specifically "Nurses as Leaders". Amy's contribution to excellent patient care is easy to summarize: studies have shown that the more engaged and professionally committed the nurse, the better the patient outcomes. In promoting the CAP tenets of Professional Growth and Development, Clinical Practice, Leadership and EBP and Research, Amy has helped to create a pathway to engagement that will benefit staff and patients alike.
