I would like to nominate Amenah for the Daisy award because she possesses all of the skills/competencies of the highest level of the nursing profession. Amenah has been dedicated to this facility as the charge nurse for the Main OR at night on the weekend for the past 22 years. She is a positive role model and a great TEAM player. She is respected by the team as a charge nurse who has their best interest in mind and will advocate for equipment and other resource tools to help the team provide effective and efficient care. She is very articulate, professional and the epitome of maintaining composure under pressure. She continually demonstrates compassion for the patient and families, and has a vast knowledge of the entire surgical unit. She functions in any capacity and when someone needs to know anything they always go to her. She does not show stress, even though this unit can be extremely stressful. You can always depend on her to be calm, cool, and to get you through it! The surgeons even seem more at ease when they see her because they know things will be done precisely and correctly. She's admired by many who know her and have had the pleasure of being trained by her. She is an excellent nurse who puts patient and family alike at ease with her gentle, caring techniques. She explains things so well to patients and families as well as anyone around her with questions, making sense of sometimes difficult situations. She is extremely intelligent and is always willing to pass on her knowledge to others, which makes her a wonderful teacher as well. She knows where everything is, what every piece of equipment does and how it works. She is a great resource to this unit and knowledgable in all aspects of surgery. She has taught me the skills I need to become a better OR nurse and is a very dear friend of mine whom I respect and admire. She pushes me to further my eduaction and encourages everyone to join professional groups that pertain the OR. She is highly quailified, competent and full of compassion and well loved in this unit. She has gone beyond her call of duty. She is a member of the CNOR, AORN, and is certified in the ONC (orthopedidics). I want to thank her for all that she does for this unit it wouldn't function without her.
