I brought my grandmother to the Emergency Room. There were lots of people in the waiting room and lots of people were waiting a long time. The nurses and nursing assistants were always walking around checking on everybody, which I thought was nice. But, then something happened, and a male patient was cursing and yelling at a lady in a wheelchair. The nurse, Ami, immediately jumped up from her computer and ran over to the man. The lady was saying that he poked her in the face. The man was still yelling and threatening her.
Ami stood in front of the man without hesitation and stopped the man from going back toward the lady in the wheelchair. The man started threatening Ami and pushed her, but she still was protecting the lady in the wheelchair.
Security and the police came pretty quickly and took care of the situation from there. The guy was still fighting the police though. Ami was trying to move the lady out of the way and other kids that were close by. She didn't hesitate to protect a patient even if it meant putting herself in danger.
It's nice to know that a nurse is willing to help a stranger in a way that I am sure isn't in her job description. Good job Ami!
