"We are writing collectively to nominate Amber Nibling for the DAISY Award. As a new employee to the Cancer Center, I have been amazed and inspired by this exceptional nurse. She is always quick to assist her colleagues and patients in any way she can. She is a float nurse and has been one of the first people I go to with any questions or concerns with my own patients. Her knowledge base and kindness has been quiet an asset for me as I am learning my role in this position. No task is too big for her to take on if it is the quality of the patient. I have never witnessed her deny any assignment or act ill of anything she has been asked.

A prime example of Amber going the extra mile for her patients, happened this week when she got out early from a meeting and came to sit with a patient to toast a glass of water with her on her final treatment. Her goal was to sit with the patient during her treatment, but she saw that the infusion nurses were struggling with our current census. Within seconds, Amber was in our blue chemo gown on and chemo in hand helping the team. She was still able to be more than attentive and help celebrate with the patient.

With heavy hearts we are saying goodbye to Amber as she is now going to be an asset to the Education Department. Without a doubt she will excel at this position too. She is very active at the organizational level in addition to providing excellent patient care. She is a Magnet Champion, Partnership Counsel Chair, Board Certified Ambulatory Care Nurse, Parish Nurse at her church, youth sports coordinator for the Champaign Park District, AAACN review course writer, Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certified and I am sure I am only touching on her involvement".
