Amber went above and beyond for a patient on our unit. This patient's Make-A-Wish was to meet NBA star Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors. The patient was a super fan of the Warriors. Ever since his first stay on our unit, we all knew him as the fun-loving kid who loved the Warriors, and especially Draymond Green. This patient and family spent months on our unit with multiple trips to the PICU as well. After Make-A-Wish denied his wish to meet Draymond, the patient wrote a letter to him. Still, after no success and another extended stay on our unit and in the PICU he was still adamant about meeting Draymond.
Amber went out of her way to contact someone from the Warriors who had heard about the patient's long battle and his final wish. Tickets were then donated to the patient, and once word was spread throughout the whole Warrior organization, the whole family got to attend the Warriors game. The patient and father's seats were then upgraded to VIP. But most importantly the patient got to meet his idol after the game, creating a moment that he and his family will never forget. This simple gesture allowed the patient's dream come true after a long and hard fought battle. Amber's dedication, compassion, and empathy exemplify that of a true DAISY Nurse.
