Amber became our nurse on Sunday morning when we delivered our baby boy. She greeted us with such a caring and compassionate nature that I automatically felt at ease. She continually came into our room and asked what she could do to help me feel more comfortable. Amber was very attentive in checking on me and baby, always with a warm smile on her face. Things started to speed up by early afternoon and she was a wonderful patient advocate. I was able to get an epidural and was feeling much better. She stood at my bedside throughout the whole procedure, holding my hand, and telling me how great I was handling everything.
After the epidural was placed and I was laying back in bed, I could tell she was concerned about the fetal monitor. I saw a concerned look in her eye and after a couple tries of replacing the monitor, she called help in immediately. Her quick actions had additional help at the bedside. I remember laying there shaking in fear and her looking into my eyes telling me things are going to be okay, all while she was doing numerous other tasks. With her experience, she could already tell where the delivery was heading and started to prepare for a C-Section. Within the hour, the doctor was at the bedside and my nurse was scrubbing in to safely deliver my baby boy.
I am thankful every day for Amber's quick actions and tremendous nursing skills. Because of her attentive care, my son was born healthy and happy. There is nothing that I could do to repay her for that. She made the biggest difference in my care while at Ephrata Hospital and they are so lucky to have her on their team.
