Amber frequently works the fast track area of the ER and is always going above and beyond to make sure patients have everything they need after discharge. Amber recently noticed that many of the parents of her patients felt confused about the doses and timing to give the medications. Amber created a sheet for the parents to take home so they could keep track of the medications. The paper contained the child's weight and the weight-based dose to give the child while at home. This form increased safety for our patients as well as decreased the likelihood of a bounce-back admission.
Amber is always working to increase the morale of her co-workers and she sets the example of how others should be at work. She is kind, calm, caring, and keeps a level head at all times. Patient care and safety are #1 at all times. Recently, in an effort to pull the night shift team together, Amber filled out a 2-page nursing excellence nomination form for each nurse to give thanks to her co-workers and improve employee engagement. Amber is a hard worker. She plans events and fun activities among the staff in the ER to encourage team bonding. She is a great role model for others.
