When we got back to the room, Amanda was snuggling him and making sure he was safe and not alone. As a mom, this meant the world to me.

My son is 2 months old. He developed a fever and we took him into the doctor. They had us bring him into the ED. My husband and I were, of course, terrified being first-time parents. After his blood and urine were collected, we were informed that his white blood cells were high and that they needed to do a lumbar puncture on my precious little boy. When the doctor asked us if we had questions, we were so upset that we didn't know what to even ask.

Amanda swooped in and not only answered our questions but was there for us in a way that I can't even describe. I was so upset and sobbing and she called the chaplain to come and pray with us and for us and our boy. She was so very reassuring when he did have his lumbar puncture and told us she would be with him the whole time and wouldn't leave him alone. When we got back to the room, she was snuggling him and making sure he was safe and not alone. As a mom, this meant the world to me.

After we had calmed down in the evening, Amanda came in a talked to my family. She sat down and really got to know us and us her. She brought us warm blankets, popsicles, and water while we waited for our room to be ready.

She was such a bright light during one of my worst moments as a mother and I want her to be recognized as one of the best. I am also a nurse, but when it's your own child it is a different story. She went above and beyond for my son and my family and I can't thank her enough.

Please let her know how much my husband and I truly appreciated her and her kindness. She is one of a kind and the Riley ED is so so lucky to have someone like her.
