Amanda was recognized by a five-year-old patient and her mother. The five-year-old little girl suffered excruciating pain from a ruptured appendix and spent two weeks in the hospital. Amanda was the little girl's night shift nurse several nights during her stay. "To say Amanda went above and beyond the call of duty just doesn't give her enough credit. All Amanda had to do was walk through the door and a smile would form on my little one's face. No medication could do what she did." It is evident that nursing is Amanda's passion through her outgoing personality, caring spirit, professionalism, and huge heart. "We will never forget how she made us feel. She was our angel," the mother said. The little girl said, "You make me feel better! You make me happy!"
Amanda's clinical manager says all of Amanda's patients love her. She always has a smile on her face and is the bright and shining nurse who enters the room to bring her patients joy. Amanda is also a team leader on the night shift and is a super user for the upcoming implementation of a new electronic medical record system.
Because of Amanda's compassionate and caring efforts, her patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
