On the darkest days of my life, Amanda was there to comfort me and my family. My mom fell, hitting her head and was injured very badly. My mom was transferred from the emergency room to hospice care. Amanda was my mother's nurse that first night. She treated my mother with unbelievable respect and kindness. She explained everything she was doing to keep my mother comfortable. She spoke to my mom and encouraged us to do the same. She explained that she believed my mom could hear us. With her encouragement were all talked to my mom. Amanda worked diligently to make sure my mom was comfortable. I stayed with my mom when she was in the hospital and Amanda was so sweet she encouraged me to shower after being in the hospital for two days. She gave me all the supplies that I needed and told me I would feel better after a shower. This seemed like a small thing but she was right, I did feel better. She found me a comfortable recliner to sleep in while I was in the hospital. She explained to me if my mom's condition was getting worse or staying the same. She listened to stories about my mom and was very good with my 87-year-old dad, encouraging him to eat and drink. When Amanda told me she was only 22 years old I was amazed. She was so composed and smart. This nurse certainly went above and beyond for my mom and the entire family. When my mom passed away, Amanda came into the room to offer condolences. I have to say that it was comforting to know that my mom was cared for by Amanda. I know Amanda felt some of the pain that we were feeling because she spent so much quality time with my family and my mom.
