My father, N, passed away in May at Methodist North Hospital. During his stay in the intensive care unit, he received most of his care from a day shift nurse by the name of Amanda (Mandy) Holder. Her exemplary service and empathy left my family and me in complete awe. Simply put, she was amazing.
This had to have been one of the worst times of my life and seeing her come into the room and care for my father the way she did made the emotionally distressed situation easier. She treated my father with dignity and respect. She did simple things that went a long way like holding my father's hand while speaking to him in a gentle tone, stroking his hair when she noticed a grimace on his face from the feeding and ventilating tube and played music from his bed for therapy.
Although two months have passed since my father's death, I cannot get her service and commitment to her vital role as a nurse out of my head. She definitely made my father's transition smoother. Although Mandy may have thought she was only doing her job, she left a remarkable impression on my family and me during that trying time. I'm so glad we chose MLH for our father's healthcare needs and I genuinely want to thank the staff at Methodist North Hospital. Keep up the good work. Special thanks to Mandy, because of her, my father did not have to suffer.
