My husband brought me into the ER. It was our 47th anniversary. I had chest and neck pain. I am asthmatic and thought I would be going home soon. The ER doctor started talking about a possible heart problem. This was a big surprise. When I came to my room, Amanda was my nurse. She was sweet, gentle, and helped me feel safe. She was in and out of my room all day and evening. When my family and friends left for supper, my stress got the best of me. I was alone, scared, and thought that I may not see my family again. I started crying and feeling sorry for myself. Amanda came in and saw how upset I was and started talking to me. She called the doctor and gave me some medicine. She stayed with me several minutes and checked on me until her shift was over. She talked to me and hugged me when I needed someone the most. She is very caring, loving, and gentle. She explained things to me and had me laughing by the time she left. The other nurses were great, but Amanda was a Godsend, my angel.
