Amanda is calm, caring and professional. Her skill level is high. I've observed her for some time now and I'd let her take care of me or mine anytime. She smiles!! She also seems to hold "old time" positive values about the quality of care.

I was intubated while in the ICU. My first night in ICU, Amanda stayed hours after her shift ended to make sure I was stable before she left. While I was intubated the only thing I remember is Amanda's voice always talking to me to get me to wake up because I wasn't waking up.
My family said that she would sing to me while washing my hair, putting it up and put a flower in my hair. The day I woke up Amanda was there, again all I remember is her voice, and I gave her a huge smile when I saw her face.

Words can't express the appreciation and bond my family has with Amanda (the nurse with the bow in her hair). She took exceptional care of my father and the compassion and interest she showed to us for his care and recovery overfloweth!!
She starts her day off by setting the tone. She made it clear that for the next 12 or more hours she owns my dad and is now a member of our family, which she strives to improve and love on her patients and their families for the betterment of all of our care and concerns. She also does something I've never seen in my years of medical experiences and that is to engage with her patient to show Honor and Dignity. She created a Salon/Barbershop atmosphere and warm shaved my father's face and neck making him look perfect for the family. This special "Above and Beyond" gesture touched my heart and made my family cry tears of gratitude.
We hope the most for this amazing nurse and now a member of our family. She is an asset to the Mission of what St. Vincent's stands for in compassion, dedication, exceptional interpersonal skills.
