Alyssa is one of our newer nurses on our unit, as well as the youngest nurse. Alyssa has always shown her compassion, empathy, and care for all of her patients. Alyssa goes above and beyond for all of her patients, here are just a couple of examples.
A patient who was taken to a long term facility by EMS forgot his dentures. Alyssa, after working her exhausting 13-hour shift, took the time to deliver the dentures to the patient to ensure the dentures got back to their rightful owner instead of leaving it up to chance and hoping they got back to the patient.
On another occasion, Alyssa had a patient who had not been eating for several days and had no desire to eat. Alyssa took the time to sit with the patient and figure out what would taste good to the patient. Alyssa was determined to get this patient's favorite food. Chicken Alfredo was what the patient desired, so Alyssa ordered Chicken Alfredo from Olive Garden and had it delivered. The patient was delighted and was able to eat it for several meals.
Alyssa's actions define the true meaning of nursing.
