I am a new employee and have been at EMC for a month. Alexis has been so warm and welcoming over this time. She has answered every question in entirety, given me a full tour of the unit and introduced me to staff. Starting a new job and learning the computer system can be difficult. But, having Alexis by my side teaching and helping has decreased my anxiety. She is a wonderful nurse and coworker.

It is expected of an ED nurse that they be competent, compassionate, and efficient. Alexis has always exemplified what it means to be a nurse. Our field demands we always exhibit these three attributes but at times, it is challenging. When we work over 12 hours and stay long to help, we lose some efficiency when we get spit on or sworn at we sometimes lose our compassion. When we see something new and are expected to act quickly, our competency can be challenged. Throughout all these struggles a nurse is expected to maintain the attributes or cover with a "smile". To the coworker and a trained eye, it is easy to spot the "cover smile".As Alexis' coworker and charge, I've never seen "the smile". She exhibits all the attributes knows what it means to be a nurse.

Alexis is a pleasure to work with arrives with a smile that is seen by everyone she comes in contact with. She is a great team member.

From the interview to the long days in the ED she has maintained a smile and kindness with her coworkers as well as patients. She shows ownership in her work by using all of her tools. She explains details to the patients regarding the care as well as going the extra mile with the little things that matter, coffee for the family or walking with agitated Alzheimer patients. She is willing to help out and is flexible with staffing. She will adjust to any shift. I needed a nurse for 6 hours on nights and she came in and worked. When I needed a relief charge she stepped right up. She is a true inspiration that describes the nursing practice. She is kind compassionate and has patience with everyone!
