"Dear Heavenly Father, may your healing hands guide the surgeon and be with Ms. C during this time. Give Ms. C a peace that only comes from you. May Ms. C feel the love and prayers from her family and friends as a sweet reminder of how much you love her."
These are the last words I heard from my primary nurse caring for me during a recent acute illness before taken to surgery.
Prior to surgery, Alex ensured my primary care needs were met. She monitored my pain and vital signs, but I think she knew I was afraid, scared of the unknown. No one seemed to be able to figure out what was the cause of my problem. Alex not only listened, she anticipated my needs. She explained things in detail even though I too am a nurse. Her positive attitude made me feel like she truly cared about me. She actively listened to me as she moved about the room supporting me. Her compassionate way and calm demeanor made me feel I was her only patient but I knew better. Alex was attentive to my every need and I felt safe in her care.
Alex went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and sending me off to surgery in prayer truly impressed upon me she knew exactly what I truly needed when I needed it.
