I was admitted for premature rupture of membranes. At 32 weeks, I was absolutely terrified of having a premature infant. Alaina went above and beyond to reassure me and to make sure I felt educated about my current state and did not have any questions or concerns. I know she sensed my desperation and loneliness. My husband needed to tend to our toddler son because we were not from Pittsburgh and did not have anyone to call in the middle of the night. When I was alone Alaina was there to ease my fears. It was an extremely long night filled with uncertainty if our son would make an early debut. Alaina made me feel like I was her only patient and was at my side caring for any need I might have. She dedicated her time to make me feel comfortable and advocated tirelessly for me. She even made me a pumpkin garland and a sign with patient goals. She provided me with a warm friendly environment where my pre-labor needs were being met. That morning, my son decided to stay put until 34 weeks. As I waited a long week on bedrest, Alaina came and checked on me and brought me a personalized homemade birthday card. As my time approached she was with me during the birth of my son. Again, with my family in Mississippi, I was glad to have a familiar warm face at my bedside. Our family appreciates the measures Alaina took to help bring our family a measure of joy and dignity in a helpless situation. She is a skilled nurse exhibiting everything I could hope to receive under her care.
