Abby wheeled the patient outside, waited while her car warmed up, and scraped off all the ice and snow from her car.
Abby always goes above and beyond to help her patients. Today was no different. We had a patient on comfort measures and the patient's spouse was admitted for COVID on another floor. When the spouse was discharged, Abby went downstairs and brought the patient upstairs so she could be with her husband one final time before she had to go home.
When the wife was finished visiting, Abby wheeled the patient outside, waited while her car warmed up, and scraped off all the ice and snow from her car. Abby did all of this without even being asked to do so. When Abby returned to the floor, she was covered in snow and freezing. She didn't care though. She was only worried about the patient's wellbeing. This is just one example of how Abby goes above and beyond for her patients every day on COVID. She is a Rockstar.

I would like to recognize Abby for the care and extra steps she took for a patient and his wife. We have a patient who is on comfort measures after a lengthy stay. Throughout his stay, Abby has ensured the family has been in contact using technology. As the patient has been in our care, his wife was also COVID positive and was admitted to another unit for treatment. Abby and the staff worked to get the wife to his room to see him while she was a patient.
Upon discharge, Abby knew the importance of the wife getting to see her husband for potentially the last time. After she was discharged, Abby assisted her to the parking lot where she learned the wife had driven herself to the hospital and would be driving herself home. Abby assisted her to her car as she did not want her to exert herself or stand in the cold to exacerbate her symptoms. This is just one of the many examples of Abby going above and beyond for her patients.
