Aaron received two letters of commendation, qualifying him for the DAISY Award:
My son was rushed to Memorial Emergency room after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle. He was transferred to the ICU and stayed for 3 days. All the ICU nurses were nice, but Aaron Huntley was above and beyond nice, helpful and knowledgeable. When my son was in a terrible situation (combative), Aaron Huntley kindly would have us step out so as not to see it. After treating my son, he explained why and what was done. He brilliantly answered every question I asked him. He did everything in a way that I could completely understand why and it was done compassionately. The way he talked to my son whether conscious or not was amazing. He really cared!! On his day off he even called in, on his personal time, to see how my son was doing! Aaron Huntley has the best communication, kindest and compassionate. Aaron Huntley pushed for CT results fast from the MDs. He would leave well past his time to ensure other RNs knew of all situations about my son. All the staff were good, but Aaron Huntley was simply exemplary! We are lucky to have met and known this man.
I nominate a fine young nurse, Aaron Huntley, for the DAISY Award. I have never seen such a compassionate and professional young nurse. My mother in laws final hours on earth were made peaceful and with dignity thanks to Aaron Huntley. When I judge a nurse or medical care giver I will use Aaron Huntley as the standard they will need to meet and those standards will be the highest. He always treated her with kindness and respect even though she never regained consciousness. I will probably be in a hospital one day and when I open my eyes I will hope and pray I see Aaron Huntley as I know I will be in good hands. My daughter is an RN and she always talks about patient care, she would be proud of Aaron Huntley, as I am sure every RN would be. He is what we would all want when we are at our most vulnerable time in our life, another human who truly cares about us as shown by his training and humanity. Thank you to Aaron Huntley from the bottom of our hearts and from my mother-in-law in heaven.
