During my 50+ day stay inside ETMC, I was fortunate enough that Will picked up extra shifts at the beginning of my time here. I was extremely against a male nurse considering I needed wound care on a private area of my body. From day one, Will assured me of his professionalism and offered me kindness, compassion, respect, laughter, and was always great about answering questions I had. For the majority of my time here, he provided me with my meds and other nursing needs, but worked with the charge nurse (a female) on duty to do my wound care. This may have been an inconvenience for him, but I never knew it. He was always happy to help me and let the charge nurse do the other part. This was a huge blessing.
He was more than compassionate because he could have just been someone else's nurse, but he was always my nurse. My last weeks, things came up and he needed to do my wound care. Because he had spent so much time with me, allowing me to build trust with him and getting to see his continued professionalism, it was not a huge deal for him to take care of my wound.
He consistently showed professionalism as well as always being personable. I wasn't a patient; I was a person who he got to provide treatment to. His behavior, attitude, skill set and personality are absolutely extraordinary. He's an amazing nurse.
