A few weeks ago, we had a patient that was admitted to our hospital. The patient was infected with bed bugs. The patient belongings were removed and discarded because of the bed bugs, leaving the patient with no personal belongings. Wendy took it upon herself to help the staff in removing each bug from the patient's body, with compassion and kindness. Not only did she provide care and love to the patient but she also took the time and taught the staff the proper care for a patient in this situation. When Wendy saw that the patient had no belongings, she went to the store and with her own money bought the patient clothes and a pocket book. The patient felt love. She really appreciated everything Wendy did for her.
In another story, Wendy was making rounds on the floors and she heard the patient call light going off, she immediately stopped what she was doing, went to the room, and answered the call light. The patient wanted to eat his food but the bedside table was too far to reach. She not only assisted the patient but she also took the time to feed the patient his food. These small actions are big to our patient.
Wendy is a dedicated nurse. Not only does she do her role above and beyond, but she is a gem in our nursing department. She is compassionate, loving and caring to all of our patients. She is a pleasure to work with and she brings a smile to our patient with her love.
