In 2017, my father was transferred to Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (SRRSH), far away from my home town of Taizhou. I was deeply touched by the amiable and orderly atmosphere in the ward of SRRSH. On the day of admission, just when we put down the luggage, a nurse named Wang Yuan came to welcome us and told us she was our primary nurse and if we had any concerns or questions, please notify her anytime, and if there was anything we need we could also come to her. After the initial assessment, Wang Yuan put a fall prevention sign on my father's bedside and educated us about precautions for falls. Since my father was old and had a bad memory, every time she came to the ward she would check carefully if the surrounding environment was safe, ask if any help is needed with toileting and pay attention to our (family members') attitude toward fall preventions.
After surgery, due to my father's condition, he was having trouble turning over. Ms. Wang Yuan helped my father to turn over in bed every two hours. During the days after my father's surgery, Ms. Wang Yuan not only offered my father with professional guidance for exercises, but also cared more about his psychological changes, from time to time comforting the bad mood caused by the inconveniences after the surgery. Nurse Wang Yuan is amiable and kind and her love and professionalism have brought comfort and warm to patients and their families.
