Virginia is greatly admired and respected by leadership, peers and patients. She is described as a warm and compassionate nurse who goes beyond for her patients and their daily care. There are so many times that Virginia has been witnessed caring for patients and doing everything she can and beyond to ensure the safety and positive outcomes of her patients. One example was described :

A couple of months ago we had a very sick patient in ICU. He had been there for 2 months and remained intubated. The manager of the unit received a sick call from the day and night ICU nurse. Every nurse was called but no one was available to come in. The patient was going to be transferred to our sister facility ICU Unit. Virginia was very upset because she knew what patient and the family needed and they were familiar and comfortable with our ICU. It was Christmas and he would not know any of the nurses at the sister hospital and he might have a setback in his condition.

Virginia went into her patient advocate mode and called another ICU day nurse and worked it out that the both of them would cover the shifts until the manager could get more help. We were very proud of her and admired her tenacity and overall caring for this patient and his family. Virginia exhibits the same tenacity and love for all of her patients. She is a strong patient advocate and a strong nurse with exemplary clinical and interpersonal skills. She is a true DAISY Nurse who is admired tremendously. She is an excellent role model who consistently upholds and exceeds the standards of nursing practice.

We Thank you Virginia for all you do.
