It is not surprising to us when Tim's name comes up often during patient and family rounds as Tim engages patients and family in their care and empowers them to make their own decisions. He provides them with control knowing that there are a lot of aspects in their life with cancer that they cannot control.

Tim is often observed to ask simple questions providing patients with more freedom on when they want their HS meds taken; dressings changed; etc. He also educated himself better regarding Middle Eastern practices and customs through attending a seminar and adjusted his care through giving privacy during prayer times, asking permission to enter the room, understanding that a decision is decided and discussed by all family members, so giving ample time is appropriate, asking permission if patient is OK with a male nurse and to respect their decisions, inquiring about the need for special foods and foods to avoid and including an interpreter to foster good communication, if needed.

Tim is also a calming presence as he projects an air of confidence, explains things in an understandable manner, delivers on his promises, and takes the time to get to know and build relationships with his patients.
