A patient’s family nominated Thea for her compassion and caring. The family member stated “My father passed away at IVCH on January 6. He always received excellent care during his stay. But on this night, a wonderful nurse named Thea called to tell me my father was not doing well. She met me at the ER door, pushed my mom up to the unit in a wheelchair and privately let us know that after several minutes of CPR he had passed away. It was now 11:30 at night and I am sure well after the end of her shift. Yet, she waited for us to meet with the physician and spend time telling dad good bye. I know it was after 1 AM when we left and she was there to wheel my mom out to the car. She was so kind and compassionate. She even came to my dad’s wake. I just want someone to know what a wonderful nurse she is and how grateful we are for her care. You are lucky to have her.
