Terry became a Registered Nurse in 1987 and for the past 23 years she has worked in Cardiopulmonary Rehab at UPMC. Several years after working in this field she went back to school and obtained a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology (not required). She just wanted to have the highest level of training and competency for the job. Terry is an exceptional nurse.

She consistently provides outstanding care and is very conscientious. I hear nothing but praise from both the patients she serves and her co-workers. Terry is a master at patient assessments. She brings both her nursing and exercise science skills to bear putting herself in an optimum position for creating and implementing outstanding individualized treatment plans. She takes those plans of care and applies them to obtain some of the best outcomes for our patients as anyone in the department. Terry has very thorough and accurate documentation. She does everything with the utmost consideration of the patient. She is exceptionally compassionate. Her customer service skills are wonderful. She conveys a genuine interest in whomever she interacts with.

She has been the lead RN in our Pulmonary Rehab programs for years. Of all my associates, she is clearly the most knowledgeable in this field. She understands the importance of a life-long commitment to exercise and good health habits. She consistently and effectively conveys this to patients. She is a great teacher, conveying information in terms patient can understand and will use. She includes family in her teaching and care whenever possible.

She has served on the Evidence Based Practice Committee for years and now serves on the Diabetes committee. She runs our arrhythmia competencies annually. And this year, on her own initiative, she became an ACLS instructor. Terry currently meets her CEUs for RN practice. Very open to new ideas and offers positive feedback. She is a continuous learner. She also raises money for and participates in AHA Heart Walk every year.

She frequently handles untoward events in the department and does an outstanding job. Something as simple as a bruise or as complex as an evolving MI she knows what to do and who to get involved. She has great relationships with physicians and communicates effectively what the patient is experiencing and translating physician advice to patient care.

Terry is a role model in nearly every aspect of her work. She is professional, intelligent, hardworking, flexible, compassionate, possesses great clinical care skills, conscientious, leader and educator, and quality oriented. She always goes above and beyond. She is a great communicator, teacher, team player, documenter and mentor. She is a true patient advocate. Finally, as much as anything I have already said Terry is a joy to work with.
