Tara Hinojosa is a registered nurse (RN) who practices in Surgery. Tara is being honored with the DAISY Award for continually going above and beyond when providing high quality care. Her nomination reads “Tara stepped up to assist with a trauma case even though she was not on call. She quickly responded to the family’s needs by communicating with them and ensuring they understood. She remained calm and displayed integrity while preparing the patient for surgery. Yet, at the same time she exhibited compassion with family and collaborated extremely effectively with the surgeon and Anesthesia. She embraced the family’s culture by taking steps to include their requests in the plan of care. Many complemented Tara on her ability to remain calm during such an urgent situation.”
This was not the first time Tara has remained calm and provided compassionate care to a patient and their family during a traumatic time. She also provided care to a husband and wife who had been injured in a motor vehicle accident. After the wife expired, Tara went above and beyond to ensure the husband and other family members received the privacy, attention, and time necessary to grieve. Tara was there for this family collaborating with them, ensuring a peaceful environment, and providing compassionate care during this highly emotional time.
