Tonight while visiting grandpa after he fell and broke his hip I was reminded of just how kind and caring the staff at the Monroe Clinic always are. Around midnight Tami came in and talked with us, but while she did she knelt down next to grandpa's bedside while he was sleeping and compassionately looked at him. This wasn't just a brief instant that I captured with my camera, but a rather lengthy moment in time that I was privileged to witness. While we talked she remained knelt down by grandpa's bedside listening to my dad talk about my grandfather's life - where he grew up and where he had worked - but all the while she just warmly looked at grandpa, monitoring his facial expressions and shiftings to make sure he was comfortable. I am very pleased that the Monroe Clinic provides caring treatment for both the body and the soul. Thank you Monroe Clinic for the exceptional healthcare that you provide.

Tami also takes responsibility for her own education. She has obtained her BSN and is ACLS certified. She is cross trained in several areas of Inpatient Nursing. As a Pediatric, Joint (Orthopaedic), Step-Down and general Med/Surg nurse, she has needed to take extra classes to become competent in each of these specialties. Most recently Tami has taken the initiative to purchase her own Orthopedic Certification Book so that she can become certified in Orthopedics and use these skills to take better care of her joint replacement patients. She willingly shares her knowledge with other staff and is seen as a resource person on our night shift. She is currently a "trainer" for new RNs coming to the night shift but will once again further her training by enrolling in the PDP Preceptor track in July 2015 so she can be a preceptor to the new graduate nurses that are hired on Inpatient Services. Tami is well respected by her co-workers, as well as the Coaches, Shift Coordinators, Hospitalists and Surgeons that she collaborates with. The Coaches and staff working with her often use terms such as "great team player", "flexible", "conscientious", "very helpful", and "caring" to describe Tami. The RN's and CNA's comment that Tami is always there for them and she doesn't hesitate to help. Tami is recognized routinely as an "Angel Among Us" nominee for not only taking great care of her patients but also for helping other staff members routinely when she identifies they may be struggling with a difficult patient or a "heavy" patient assignment.

Tami always has a smile and a positive warm and caring attitude to everyone around her. It has been said by more than one of her fellow team members that they wish Tami could be cloned. She is an inspiration to us all and a great role model for all of the nurses at Monroe Clinic as well as the nursing profession.
