When a fellow nurse was confronted with a particularly stressful and challenging patient care situation, Suzanne Janczewski, BSN, RN, was there to provide support and guidance, exemplifying true Jefferson values.

Without hesitation Suzzie routinely lends a helping hand to her patients and their families and to her co-workers and other Jefferson staff as well as to visitors to the Hospitals.

Suzzie is a strong advocate for her patients and a mentor to her colleagues since she is always "supportive, positive and pleasant to be around."

When a colleague was caring for a patient whose condition "was causing him to go from being very pleasant to combative," Suzzie's natural instinct was to help. "The patient had become agitated and confused," explained Suzzie's colleague who was caring for the patient. "On top of everything, the patient also had multiple wounds that needed to be attended to," the nurse explained. "Nothing could make me feel more supported during this situation than Suzzie's hand on my arm stating that she was there to help me with whatever I needed. Suzzie went above and beyond for the patient and me that day and I could not give her enough thanks for it. Because of Suzzie and her instrumental support, a very stressful situation was turned into a positive learning experience for me."

I believe that Suzzie is very deserving of the DAISY Award because of all her honorable qualities and effortless ability of making a memorable difference in the lives of many at Jefferson. She is an extraordinary nurse who many reach out for and look up to.
