I am a social worker and it is always a pleasure to work with this nurse. She is very professional and caring with patients/families. On 8/16/10, we had a mother who delivered twins. Twin A (girl) was admitted while twin B (boy) was a fetal demise. The parents had planned a grave side service for Sunday. The maternal grandfather was coming on Sunday to pick up his grandson since mother would still be hospitalized. I do not work on weekends and was very worried about the grandfather going to pick up his grandson from the morgue. The mother requested that her son be dressed in a gown donated by a local woman's church group. The grandfather was going directly to the grave side service. This nurse over heard me sharing my concerns for this grandfather and family. Twin B was never a patient. However, this nurse volunteered to go the morgue, dress the baby, and bring him back to the unit where the grandfather would come to pick him up. As you can imagine, this is a very emotional time for the entire family. This nurse was able to show them kindness and love by caring for their son.
