Susan Stafford is a wonderful role model and mentor for entire Medical Surgical Unit. Susan's many years of experience brings a calm and can do attitude to the department. The Medical Surgical department treats patients with many different diagnoses and surgical interventions. Susan has a vast knowledge to handle any situation. She ensures that her post op patients are clinically managed during their immediate recovery time, especially their pain management. Susan gets to know not only the patents in the department, but their families also. Medical patients are supported to ensure a swift recovery. In the event that recovery is not going to occur, Susan makes sure that the patient, family and staff have all the resources they need to provide the best care possible.
Susan also takes great care of her co-workers. Susan took a lead role in making the Departments EXPO poster to highlight the wonderful social support that the staff provides for each other. Susan's caring and compassionate spirit has not only affected the lives of her patients, but also pays forward as the staff she has trained also provide excellent care.
