Steve continually shows compassion and care to all patients and families he comes in contact with. I hear time and again that he takes the extra time to ensure everyone he comes in contact with receives competent, knowledgeable care delivered with excellent customer service.
Following as three examples of the reason Steve is a DAISY Nurse:
While waiting for my aunt to come out of surgery, Steve stopped by several times to check on me. He offered to get me something to drink, called maintenance to fix the cold air issue, and gave a couple updates from OR. I greatly appreciated his solicitous actions and caring words during a very long, stressful night.
Steve was called to a code in our recovery room. The patient was not doing well and the son came to the recovery room. The son was an attorney and wanted someone to come with him to talk to his mother and other family members. Steve went to the waiting room, found the family, brought them into an empty patient room, and waited while the son tried to explain that CPR was ongoing and it looked like their dad/husband would be lost. With the family breaking down, Steve stepped forward, squatted down in front of the wife, held her hand, and simply explained the circumstances and options. Steve was so compassionate. His communication was clear and he waited until the son could not go on before he stepped in to assist.
Steven was the reason that I, was able to go and get a few hours sleep. Steve positioned himself directly outside my husband’s door and managed his pain level enough so that he could get some sleep. Steve encouraged me to call him at any time during the night if I wanted updates.
