As an experienced nurse, Stacey Tedson provides excellent and compassionate care to all her patients. She consistently goes the “extra mile” to ensure her patients are receiving the best standard of care, superior customer service, and all their needs are met. Surgical patients often do not remember their PACU nurse, but Stacey is often recognized in the moment of delirious awakening and post-operative pain by her patients as genuinely caring, attentive, compassionate, and skilled at managing post-op discomfort and pain. Stacy utilizes her years of experience and expert knowledge to make patients in the immediate post-operative period as comfortable as possible.
Stacey not only demonstrates her compassionate care in the PACU, but also starts the positive patient experience pre-operatively. Recently, while on duty on weekend after hours, Stacey was called upon by the physician to pre-admit a patient, who by accident did not get scheduled for their procedure. The procedure was supposed to be on the Monday. Stacey contacted the patient to get the patient through the pre-admission process (which is not Stacey’s normal role). Stacey was unable to reach the patient at the time but left a message for the patient to call back. The patient called Stacey back the next day, when Stacey was not on-call or working and asked if she (the patient) could pre-admit the following day. Stacey, once again going the extra mile, accommodated the patient’s request. Stacey came in on her day off to pre-admit the patient. The patient was anxious and had higher than normal expectations for care and customer service; however, this was no problem for Stacey. With all her compassion and excellent customer service, she met the patient’s needs and exceeded the patient’s expectations. This is only one example of many of how Stacey consistently provides optimal patient care for patients at TFHS.
Stacey also works tirelessly to obtain authorizations for Pain Clinic patients who are referred to our facility. These authorizations are not an easy task, but once again, Stacey takes the challenge in stride and in her caring and compassion for patients, she is able to get authorizations for the procedure in the pain clinic to prevent the patient from suffering longer than usual.
Stacey can care for the most difficult and challenging patients with a big smile on her face. She consistently exceeds the patient’s expectations and provides the best care possible. She sees that all the patient’s needs are met by providing comfort in the pre and post-operative phases of perioperative care. Stacey lives her compassionate care outside of work as much as on the job. She is truly a patient advocate!
