Stacey makes it a point to treat each patient as if they are a member of her own family by making the most of each interaction she has with them. A great example of this is when she made sure a young ventilated patient's mental health needs were addressed just as much as his physical needs. This involved getting him to a chair and providing him with paper and pencils to communicate/draw with. Shortly after this, Stacey recognized he would benefit from more stimulation so she took the time to visit the gift shop to get a deck of cards. When she returned, she pulled up a chair next to him and the two began playing games. While Stacey was with the patient, you could see the patient begin to relax as his mind was no longer focused on his health. She remained close to the patient throughout the day and when his family arrived, Stacey assured them that she had been visiting with him so he was not alone and reinforced to them that all of his needs had been met. Stacey provided compassionate and respectful care that made him and his family comfortable during his time in the hospital.
