Shannon McWilliams joined Lighthouse as a Solution Architect in Sept 2011. She has quickly excelled and grown into a leader within the Lighthouse Performance Improvement Solutions. Shannon has a vast knowledge of the CareNet solution (including IPOC workflow/adoption) and she has proven to be a valuable asset to our Lighthouse organization.
I nominate Shannon McWilliams as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award for the work and dedication she displayed during her engagement with Toronto East General Hospital. Toronto East General Hospital was our first Cerner client in Canada to implement the Lighthouse (RRT) Rapid Response Team Solution. Shannon quickly became the subject matter expert for TEGH and covered multiple roles during the project cycle. Shannon led the design and training sessions for this client and developed a trusting relationship with the client that developed into a partnership. Shannon worked closely with the client to resolve issues that were unique to this client that were associated to Canadian regulations.
Shannon’s attention to detail helped to mitigate a major project risk when the naming convention of RRT became a concern. The acronym RRT is reserved for Registered Respiratory Therapy in Canada and having RRT displayed throughout our solution was of concern of this client and a risk to the project. Changing the name would require a code change and could have delayed the project significantly. Shannon was a liaison between the Cerner development team and the client and helped to develop an alliance for resolving this issue. It is extremely important that our client’s understand that we are listening and ready to take action to resolve any outstanding needs and concerns during and after the project life cycle. As a fellow nurse it is extremely encouraging to see the result of what caring and compassion can provide to our clients. Shannon truly has gone above and beyond to meet the needs of this client and she has proven that we do here as clinician’s here at Cerner truly does matter.
