My mother was admitted to your unit in sepsis. She was extremely sick; this is her third bout in six weeks with this infection. Savannah was her nurse for three days. You have an exceptional nurse in Savannah.

We do not live locally, but I drove over frequently. Savannah facilitated phone calls and updates with physicians. She picked up a murmur that led to an echo and diagnosis of moderate to severe aortic stenosis. Early the second morning when I called, my mom was weak and so short of breath she could hardly talk to me. Savannah came in the room just coming on duty, and my mom gave her the phone. She made the assessment of fluid overload, while I was on phone and told me the action she was taking.

Over the period of the three days she cared for my mother, she had physicians get in touch with my husband (also an MD) for updates by phone as well as me, when I had questions. We felt she was a real advocate for her patient and her patient's family. Savannah was a godsend to my mom and our family, and we really appreciate the excellent care she gave her and the extra mile she went for communicating with us since we do not live locally. We were extremely impressed with her!
