Our daughter has been a patient in the NICU since her birth on 5-11-08. She was born at 24 weeks. Knowing that our daughter would need extended treatment, Sarah offered to be her primary night nurse. This was a crucial event in the our daughter's care. Sarah knows what is normal behavior for her and when to be concerned. Our daughter came to know Sarah's voice and would become alert when Sarah would talk to her. Sarah would take the time to explain to our daughter about her "hands on care". Our daughter would watch every move Sarah made, this was a form of interacting. Sarah did not just hurry to get a job done. She took the time to comfort our daughter and make her feel secure with her gentle voice and touch. When Sarah was on shift, she relieved some of the stress, and frankly, allowed for a restful night. My husband and I will always be grateful to Sarah for her compassion, professionlism and the special care she gave our daughter.
