I was in recovery from receiving a stent in my ureter. When I woke up I heard Sandy and another nurse talking about the awesome baked potatoes they were having for lunch. I didn't have much to eat all week because I had my first dose of chemo and a kidney stone was making me constantly throw up so I said "I'll take one of those"! They laughed and Sandy came over, held my hand and asked how I was doing. I told her I had breast cancer and was scared to death. She hugged me really tight and said I was in good hands and God was taking care of me. I can't explain it - she gave me peace. I knew she authentically cared about me, not just my body, but what makes me be me. She stayed nearby, learned about this power port that I have and made me smile. When I got back to my room she brought me one of the super baked potatoes! It was a simple unselfish gesture on her part, but I will remember it always.
