Saturday afternoon late, my son J was tubing and probably doing things he shouldn't have. As he hit the water, his arm caught the water and he dislocated his shoulder. This was nothing new to J as he dislocated that particular shoulder many times in his high school and college years from soccer, waterboarding and snowboarding. None the less, it was painful. We are up at Cape Fair so the logical first choice was the Mercy Urgent Care in Branson West, which was closed. So we elected to go to Cox Branson Emergency as the closest help. We walked into Emergency at about 5:30. We immediately got into triage and moved to an exam room. We had staff in and out, each with specific tasks and duties, all very pleasant and helpful. The RN who pretty much attended to J the whole time was Sam Gage.
Sam was very helpful, attentive and went out of his way to make sure J was comfortable and also explained everything that was going on. The IV was placed perfectly the first time! At one point there must have been eight different people in there doing things. The doctor was fabulous. Great bedside manner, cheery and helpful. They explained the process of the sedation, and then put J under. J closed his eyes and she reset his shoulder with a simple motion. A few minutes later J woke up, looked around and asked when they were going to reset the shoulder. She smiled and told him she already did it. We pretty much spent the next twenty or thirty minutes waiting while Sam disconnected everything, finished the computer work and my son came around. We walked out of there shortly after that and headed home.
I have to tell you that having been the designated emergency room parent for 35 years that this was absolutely the best experience I have ever had. Your staff down there, from the front door all the way back are top notch. Sam Gage is the Best!
