Samantha's dedication to improving the work environment and delivery of patient care on her unit exemplifies transformational leadership. Samantha not only utilizes her director's open door policy to voice suggestions and advocate for practice changes, she also uses her unit's shared governance structure as a platform to bring about change.

Samantha designed a suggestion box for the staff to contribute ideas for improving employee satisfaction. She values the innovative ideas of her peers, and in response, she designed an acknowledgement board as a way to reward and recognize the professional development achievements of the staff and display peer-to-peer words of encouragement.

Samantha took the initiative to bring in books from home for patients to read as a means to take their minds off of their diagnoses and complex medical treatments. Samantha helped to promote our hospital-wide transition to CERNER by organizing a luau celebration for staff to support the go-live of the EMR. She also made "You Can Do It" tags for staff to place on their WOWs as a means of encouragement and support in the use of this advancement in technology.

As a Magnet champion Samantha has been instrumental in the delivery of Magnet education to her peers. She regularly attends meetings and offers support in disseminating essential Magnet information throughout the organization.

Samantha's ability to lead by example and advocate for change is a testament to her excellence as a transformational leader. She is committed to quality improvement, as well as fostering positive professional relationships among staff. Samantha's influence as a transformational leader has positively contributed to our organization's Magnet culture of excellence in nursing.
