I am a nurse at BVOC and recently had to have surgery at Bronson. In a recent visit to the ED, it was discovered that I had a very large mass on my ovary which was labeled possibly cancer. CANCER, nobody in my family had any cancer, how could this be! My friend and co-worker Tammy spoke with her husband, Pete Olsen, who is a first assistant in the OR, and when my surgery was scheduled, he came in to talk with my family. He told us everything that was going to happen and he stood by me and held my hand until I went to sleep.

For being such a small area, there have been a significant amount of people at BVOC that have had Cancer, heart attacks or other scary health problems in the last few years. Whenever any of us has had surgery Pete is right there, walking us through it, holding our hand, giving us guidance through the scary OR experience. You could say we have our own private nurse. Surgery has to be one of the scariest things to go thru especially when there is a cancer concern and surgery will tell the final diagnosis. Medical people are always the worst patients, but Pete helped the process go smoothly and gave us peace of mind and a sense of security. We will be forever grateful.
