Pam's nominator had a brother on the MICU unit as a patient. There were many difficult times that were quite grim for her brother. A Hospice representative came and spoke to the family and suggested that a decision should be made within 48 hours. The family chose to stay the course of action that they decided upon from the beginning. Other instances occurred and the family was given little hope of a positive outcome for their loved one until Pam became his nurse.

Pam did her best to explain how severe and serious their loved one's condition was. She encouraged them not to give up hope and explained that time does heal. She was able to comfort and calm the family as she knew how. She was always willing to explain any concerns that they may have had.

Pam's nominator wanted everyone to know that her brother is now in a rehab facility soon to be discharged home. "Pam is one special nurse and please let her know how grateful we are to her," states her nominator.
